2017 Results and Fixtures
The 2017 season was a massive step in the right direction for the Lincolnshire Bombers. With an influx of rookie players, old stalwarts who'd rekindled their passion for the sport and students looking for more game time from Lincoln University the Bombers embarked on a surprise play-off run, guided by a high-power offence and ring-tight defence.
Written off by most British American Football League pundits at the start of the season, the Bombers did little to suggest they had changed much from a miserable 2016 season in which they lost all ten fixtures after an opening day 42-8 home defeat to the Shropshire Revolution. As it turned out, the Revs were the star of the division and ultimately earned promotion to Division 1 with an unbeaten record and Conference Championship title to their name.
The Bombers finally picked up their long overdue win with a 31-7 victory over the Crewe Railroaders and experienced a sweet second victory with a local derby 50-burger win over the Humber Warhawks. A second defeat to the Revolution followed in week five to drop the Bombers to 2-3 on the season but after that defeat a strong play-off run was started.
A club record four consecutive wins over the Railroaders, Spartans, Warhawks and Surge brought the Bombers into second place and with a shot at play-off football should they win a last day head-to-head against the pre-season title favourites Chester Romans.
Unfortunately it was not to be as the Bombers fell one touchdown short of a club-first appearance in the play-offs but a final 6-4 record was a great measure of success for the season.
