Rookie Open Days are your perfect way to get into American Football if you're completely new to the game.
The Rookie Open Days consist of a relaxed environment where you can join other new recruits to try out the different elements the sport entails. You’ll learn about the key fundamentals, try individual skill sessions, practice multiple positions, mix in with team practices and try a full scrimmage - all without needing any previous experience or equipment.
Our aims for these open sessions are to welcome you to the sport, get to know the team and coaches and find a position that both suits you and that you enjoy.
2020 Update We've recently had the good news from our governing body (BAFA) that our return to play status has changed from level 3 to level 4 - read about it here.
So what does this mean for you?
Well, in simple terms, it means we're able to offer non-contact training once more from October 2020 and we are able to have bubbles of 30 individuals (x2 for our facility size) so can return to full participation. However, please note you MUST REGISTER your attendance with us before the day - due to COVID-19 guidance we can't allow anyone to 'turn up on the day'.
How to get involved
Training usually starts at 10am on Sundays at the 'Prison Pitch' (next to Lincoln Prison) on Greetwell Road, Lincoln, LN24BD. We are currently alternating our Youth Academy and Senior weekends to ensure individual bubbles remain - the first of these sessions is October 11th for the Youth Academy and October 18th for the Seniors.
The online COVID-19 screening form is available between 9am Wednesday and 5pm Friday on the week you are intending to train- this provides your registration for the game and meets government track and trace criteria.
If you are thinking of joining us in 2021 then it's also worth joining our Prospective Players Facebook Group, here you'll receive the latest news, hear from the coaches and be able to ask any questions about the open days, getting kit or joining the team.
